And thus far, the new version of Edge for Windows 10 shares a lot of the design language found in the Chrome browser. The leaked images first appeared on Neowin, and they give us a first look at the new interface, settings, and some of the features that we could be expecting in the final release. Although we’re in the early days of the development, the images show a new Microsoft Edge Store to get extensions for the browser, which currently includes those extensions from the old version. However, it’s expected that developers will be able to easily port their Chrome extensions into Microsoft Edge. According to the leaked screenshots, the main interface and even the color scheme look very similar to Chrome’s counterparts. For instance, the navigation tools, including refresh, home, and other buttons are identical the Google’s browser. The favorites bar also looks identical, and it seems that Microsoft Edge will also include support for multiple profiles as you can see a profile image that indicates the user who’s currently signed in. You’ll still be able to access the main settings menu from the top-right, but entering the settings, you’ll open a new tab experience that lays out the settings on a page with a left pane – just like in Chrome. The settings experience opens into the “Profiles” section, that shows information about the signed in user. Using the left pane, you can access the different groups of settings to change the appearance, startup, privacy, site permissions, downloads, languages, printing, system, and more options.  The About page, reveals that the leaked images are from versions 74.1.85.0 (Developer) and 74.1.91.0 (Canary) of Microsoft Edge, and it confirms that it’s a version based on Chromium. It’s unclear when the company plans to make available the first public preview of the Chromium-based version of Microsoft Edge, but it’s expected that it’ll happen soon.
