The new look is not only available on Windows 10, macOS, and Linux, but on Android and iOS as well. According to the company, “these updates have a simpler look and will (hopefully) boost your productivity.” In this new release, one of the most significant visual change is the new tab system with a new one that includes rounded edges, and tweaks to make it easier to see at glance even when you have a lot of tabs open in the browser. Across Chrome, the company is also updating and simplifying prompts, menus, and even the URLs in the address bar. The address bar (Omnibox) has been reworked to show answer to query without having to open yet another tab. In addition, starting with version 69, the Omnibox will also work to find open tabs letting you jump straight to it with “Switch to tab.” Other improvements can be found in the built-in password manager. In Chrome 69, the manager will automatically generate and suggest secure passwords as you sign up on a website. The password will be stored in your Google Account, and it’ll then be available on your desktop and mobile devices. Autofill is getting some improvements as well, including the ability to fill addresses, credit cards, and passwords in online forms more accurately. If you’re filling out a form for the first time, the information will be stored in your Google Account, which can always be accessed from the Chrome toolbar. Chrome 69 is also updating the new tab page with options to create and manage shortcuts to your favorite sites with the new Add shortcut button. And it’s now possible to change the background of the tab page with any image you want. Alongside the new visual changes, Chrome version 69 includes a set of new experiments meant to improve the browser memory usage, startup time, latency, and usability.
