The YouTube Kids app has been built to have a bright and playful design with large images and bold icons. The app is also fast and very simple to navigate using touch, Google even added voice search to help the little ones to search when they cannot spell words. As useful as YouTube can be, in its natural state, it’s not a safe website for little minds without proper supervision. The YouTube Kids apps will help parents rest a little easier knowing that Google will only show content appropriate for kids. In the YouTube Kids app channels and playlists are accessible in four categories, including: Shows, Music, Learning and Explore. And, of course, search is always available to look for a particular video. Perhaps the biggest feature is Parental Control with options to help you control the experience of your kids, which includes:

Timer:  Allows you to set how much video time you want your kids to watch. Sound settings: You have an option to turn off background music and sound effects, so your kids can keep watching while you catch a breather. Search settings: This option let you enable or disable search on the app. If disabled, kids only have access to pre-selected videos. Product feedback: If there is something you don’t like in the app or you have a feature idea, use this functionality to tell the YouTube team what you want to see in the app.

YouTube Kids app is available immediately free in the U.S., on iPad, iPhone, and Android devices. As expected, there isn’t an app for Windows Phone or Windows tablet.
