Firefox 7 was just released and this version brings a lot of improvements and something that many users are going to like, that is a big improvement memory handling. This new version is less memory intense, the usage is now reduced between a 20% and 50%. In other small changes Mozilla also included a shortened URL bar that hides the HTTP:// for all web page addresses, and for those of you that like the full experience, here is a simple solution to show the full URL back.

Get the full URL back in Firefox 7

  1.  While in Firefox 7, in the URL bar, type about:config and click on the I’ll be careful, I promise! button.
  2.  Then in the Filter field, do a search for browser.urlbar.trimURLs
  3.  Right-click and select Toggle or double-click to change the value from true to false — changes are save immediately after the value is modify.

Being able to get the full URL gives you the change to see if you are using HTTP or HTTPS which is important on the web to know or have a quick idea if you are or not in a secure site.
