On an effort to get users to protect their Google accounts to avoid security breach and prying eyes from snooping around, the search giant is giving away additional Google Drive storage to those who spend a few minutes securing their accounts through the Security Checkup dashboard. This should sound familiar as Google did the same exact thing last year. In order to take advantage of the promotion offer, you must complete the security check. To do so, you need to sign into the Security Checkup dashboard, review all your security settings, including recovery information, review your connected devices, and what services have permission to access your account information.

Once you have completed the checkup, click Done, and then 2GB of Google Drive storage should be granted to your account. But let’s not lose focus, even though it’s great to get some additional Google Drive cloud storage for free, it’s about the “Safer Internet Day”. As more of our data gente stored online everyday with services like Google Drive, Drobox, and OneDrive, we have to make sure, we make our part to keep everything as much secure as possible, even though in the end it might not matter very much.
