The name change was made to reflect that now anyone can participate in the program without any special invitation to test and provide feedback on games, apps, and system update previews. However, the Xbox Insider Program won’t be open to everyone just yet. According to the company the Xbox system updates will continue to be limited to those who are already participating in the preview program. This means that it’ll take some time before anyone can join the Insider Program to try out beta versions of Xbox. Similar to the Windows Insider Program, the Xbox Insider Program is just another effort from Microsoft to get feedback from real users to help shape the future of Xbox One.
