In September, the company released a big update too bringing TV integration, a new media player, and an updated SmartGlass. In October, users will see a much improved snap experience with a new “Snap Center”. Now double-tapping the Xbox button in the controller launches the Snap Center, where users can more easily switch between game DVR, messages, and friends. The Friends and Messages apps are receiving some changes too, now they finally work on snap view and users can even send and receive messages while in snap mode. Microsoft is also adding a new quick way to record the last 30 seconds of game play using the controller, instead of shouting “Xbox record that”, by simply double-tapping the Xbox button and pressing (X). Users without a Kinect will really benefit from these improvements. Achievements are also being tweaked and now you can see your friends achievements, so if you’re having trouble getting a specify achievement, you can see which of your friends already done it and perhaps you can ask for a little help. In the previous Xbox One system update, Microsoft released the media player app that allows users to play videos, music, and photos from a USB drive. In October, Xbox One owners will also have the ability to play content over the network and even a bigger news, Microsoft is also adding MKV file support. The Friends app is also receiving some improvements that will roll out next month with Gamescore leaderboard and the games your friends are playing. Finally, the Xbox One Digital TV Tuner is available in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain to watch live TV without a set-top box and pause live TV for up to 30 minutes. Extra: Another user requested feature included in this update is a new devices and accessories page that allows users to easily find a controller by making it vibrate. All these new features are available immediately for those participating on the preview program, everyone else will be getting the update next month.
