The first preview of Microsoft Edge for macOS users is now available in the Canary channel, and it offers the same browsing experience that you’ll find on Windows 10, but with the interface optimized for Apple devices. Some of the unique tweaks for macOS include, different fonts, menus, keyboard shortcuts, title casing, and more, which the company says is to match the language design on the OS. In addition, Microsoft is introducing some features that are tailored to macOS. For instance, the first preview of Microsoft Edge based on Chromium includes support for the Touch Bar found on MacBook, which adds shortcuts to open websites, switch tabs, and video controls. Other than some specific features exclusive for macOS, the browser is identical to the version available on Windows 10. While Microsoft is bringing Edge to macOS, the company previously said that the decision wasn’t to gain more market share. Instead, the idea is to allow web developers using Apple devices to build and test their websites and services without having to use a second device or dual-boot system to use Windows 10.
