The original Surface Pro X came only in black with a black Type Cover, but according to the report, Microsoft is planning to also include a new model in platinum, similar to the Surface Pro 7 and other Surfaces based on the Intel processors, and they’re expected to ship with new Type cover colors. Aside from the SQ2 processor and color updates, it’s unclear what other changes Microsoft is working on introducing with the hardware refresh for the Pro X. However, just the information about the processor upgrade is a significant step up, since it may improve emulation for traditional desktop applications that usually don’t run on Qualcomm ARM processors and other areas of the device. While Microsoft hasn’t share any official details, the company is expected to have a Surface event sometime in October to unveil the new Surface Pro X and details about the hardware, design changes, pricing, and launch date as well as details about the rumored mid-range version of its Surface Laptop.
