According to the report Microsoft plan is to put the “Lumia” name front-and-center, phasing out “Nokia”, name that is hardly mentioned by Microsoft lately. Also it seems that the software maker is getting ready to kill the “Windows Phone” name and logo in its mobile operating system on ads and marketing campaigns in favor of simply “Windows”. The news should not come as a surprise to anyone, Microsoft’s latest advertisements promoting its Lumia 930 and HTC One M8 phones don’t even mention the “Windows Phone” name, they just say “Windows”. And even the recently announced Lumia 730 and Lumia 830 also dropped the Windows Phone name. We have heard of rumors that Microsoft may be planning to drop the Surface name in favor of the Lumia brand. However, nothing has been confirmed. A change is coming for sure as Microsoft is also working on merging the Windows Phone and Windows RT operating systems with a working version in early 2015 that will work on phones and ARM-based devices. This is all part of Microsoft’s vision of one Windows where users can enjoy the same experience across devices, that being on a PC, Xbox, or phone. Dropping the Windows Phone name is part of the process, however, let’s be clear of one thing, Windows Phone will not go away, it’s just about sending a message that every device runs on Windows and that it is the future. It’s all about Windows and it makes total sense… Source GeekonGadgets All content on this site is provided with no warranties, express or implied. Use any information at your own risk.
