Internally at Microsoft, the upcoming operating system is referred as “Windows Mobile” and “Windows 10 Mobile”, and it will be a combination of Windows RT and Windows Phone, which will allow to take advantage of the universal app model. However, the mobile OS is unlikely to offer the desktop environment, only the modern version of Windows 10. While more details on future plans for Windows 10 will be revealed later on the year at the BUILD conference, Microsoft will hold a press event on January 21st, to reveal the consumer features for the operating system across devices. Like the Windows Insider program, the recently published Phone Insider app at the Windows Phone Store will provide Insiders the way to download and install the preview version of Windows 10 for phones when it releases. According to the same report, the pre-release version of the operating system for mobile devices will include a limited set of features and it will focus on getting feedback from users to polish the software before it releases later this year. Although, there is not a specific date set to when the preview of Windows 10 for mobile devices will release, the company is expected to push the bits by the end of January, follow the press event.
