The previous firmware update was released two days after they went on sale, usually the company takes some time between releases, but seeing that the problems were significant the November firmware updates are now rolling out for the Surface Book and Surface Pro 4. Below you will find a breakdown of what’s new in the November firmware for the Surface devices.

November firmware for Surface Book

HD Graphics 520 driver update (v20.19.15.4308) addresses some display issues, including some scenarios that result in screen flickering. Display audio driver update (v8.20.0.659) supports compatibility with the updated graphics driver. Surface Embedded Controller Firmware update (v88.855.257.0) improves system stability. Surface System Aggregator Firmware update (v88.853.258.0) improves the keyboard and trackpad experience. November firmware for Surface Pro 4

HD Graphics 520 driver update (v20.19.15.4308) addresses some display issues, including some scenarios that result in screen flickering. Display audio driver update (v8.20.0.659) supports compatibility with the updated graphics driver. Surface Embedded Controller Firmware update (v103.855.257.0) improves system stability. Surface Pen Settings driver update (v10.0.302.0) adds support for future functionality on Windows 10.

The new firmware update addresses multiple key issues, including screen flickering on both devices and graphics driver, and it’s also important to note that Microsoft is fixing the keyboard and trackpad for Surface Book as we have heard many customers complaining about the unresponsive keyboard or sudden issues with the trackpad. Hopefully, the new firmware update permanently addresses most of the issues, but it’s also probable that we might see yet another firmware coming in November if things don’t work as expected.
