Surface Pro 2nd-gen specs

As many of you requested and basically was the logical move, Surface Pro 2 will house a Core i5 Haswell processor. This new processor will not only increase productivity, but it’ll also increase the battery performance. If you remember the previous version of the table only offered up to 5 hours of battery life and the 2nd-gen is likely to boost battery life up to 7 hours. Microsoft is also doubling the RAM from 4GB to 8GB, but according to Paul Thurrott’s reports customers will be able to choose the amount of memory in the model. How will it look? This is a big question, but actually has an easy answer. Surface Pro 2 will look exactly the same as the Surface Pro. However the software giant will introduce a new adjustable kickstand with two positions: the “laptop” mode and a mode so you can use the device on uneven surfaces. Price? This is a mystery, Neowin’s report that the new tablet will cost pretty much the same and the Surface Pro today. But this can always change as we have seen many price changing lately in the Surface line department. As for screen resolution, improvements on touch, and new accessories, these are also things yet to be announced (leaked). On a directly related news, Microsoft is also planning to refresh Surface RT tablets. For what I hear, it will be called “Surface 2”. Also as you noticed, Redmond is finally dropping the “RT” from the name. According to previous information, Surface 2 will house a Nvidia Tegra 4 processor and will also get the a new adjustable kickstand. There isn’t an official release date for these new devices, but the word on the street is that they are both coming out by the Windows 8.1 launch time frame (October).
