While the feature update was originally planned to release on April 10, a blocking bug that was causing a higher rate of Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) caused Microsoft to delay the launch at the eleventh hour. The bug was eventually fixed with build 17134, but we never heard from the company of an official release date. However, it’s being reported (via FaiKee on Twitter) that an internal memo from a Chinese retailer reveals that the Windows 10 April update is expected to launch in China on May 9, and because of the time difference would be May 8 in the USA and UK. Although the information hasn’t been confirmed, May 8 is the schedule for the next quality update release (Patch Tuesday), and it’s what gives the rumor a little bit of credibility. If this information ends up to be true, it would be a bit of an unfortunate situation for Microsoft, as you’ll be getting an update branded “April update” when it actually released on May. However, we’re assuming that it’s called “Windows 10 April update” because of a reference found in the latest test preview, but the company hasn’t officially announced the marketing name, and it could also might end up being “Windows 10 May update” or something totally different.
