Windows 10 build 20241, according to the company, introduces a new splash screen for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps that uses the system color mode. This means that opening a modern app will now show a light or dark splash screen as it launches, instead of the color scheme you may choose from the Colors settings page. (Some of the apps that support this behavior right now, include Settings, Windows Security, and Calculator.) In addition, build 20241 is refreshing the “Optimize Drives” page (defrag). For example, the page now adds an “Advanced View” option to list all partitions, including hidden partitions. You can use the “F5” key to refresh the screen, and there are more details under the “Current status” column when it’s not possible to defrag the partition, including “Partition type not supported” and “File system type not supported.” Finally, this preview of Windows 10 removes the Japanese Address and Rinna candidate suggestion services from the Japanese IME, and the Narrator can now read aloud high priority notifications when they appear in the Lock screen and when you sign back into your account. Microsoft is listing the complete set of improvements, fixes, and known issues for Windows 10 Insider Preview build 20241 at the Windows Blog.
