After pulling out its first major update from the Media Creation Tool, on November 24th, Microsoft explained that the real reason for removing the update was because of a bug that caused a “few settings preferences may have inadvertently not been retained for advertising ID, Background apps, SmartScreen Filter, and Sync with devices.”, and update KB3120677 addresses the issue for those users who have previously installed Windows 10 version 1511 and brings the build number to 10586.14. In addition, the company has reinstated the November update for those customer who prefer to upgrade using the Media Creation Tool to create an ISO file to do an in-place upgrade or clean installation of the operating system. KB3120677 is available immediately through Windows Update, the cumulative update will download and install automatically, but you can always go to Settings > Update & security and check for new updates.
