The new Redstone 2 update still doesn’t bring new big features, but it allows devices with Delivery Optimization enabled to download test versions of the operating system even faster. In addition, Windows 10 build 14915 also fixes a lot of issues and adds new improvements.
Delivery Optimization for Windows Insider Preview builds
Delivery Optimization was first introduced on the Windows 10 November Update, and it gives users the ability to turn on a toggle switch to speed up the download of updates. The feature works by using computers in a local network and other PCs on the internet to download parts of an update, rather than downloading everything from the Microsoft servers. However, the Deliver Optimization feature only worked with production releases of the operating system, now starting with build 14915, users with this feature enabled can also download new Insider Preview builds. Delivery Optimization is enabled by default, but you can disable or double-check if it’s turned on by going to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update > Advanced options and select “Choose how update are delivered”.
What’s new on Windows 10 build 14915 for PC
On build 14915, Microsoft is fixing and improving the following:
Fixed power button issue on the Start button. Fixed issues with certain apps crashing. Fixed Mail app toast notifications. Fixed problem with the Run command. Fixed issue with Chinese Input Method Editor. Cortana’s text to speech capabilities should now work. Settings app should no longer crash while navigating different settings. Improved language translations inside the operating system. Changing the Windows Insider Program settings should work again. Connect flyout has been updated to offer a better clickable area. Addressed issue with copy and pasting text from Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Edge improves favorite importing from Internet Explorer.
Known issues for Windows 10 build 14915
Adobe Acrobat Reader crashes when you launch it. Black screen may appear signing out and switching to another user. Bash on Ubuntu on Windows 10 doesn’t work in this build. Settings app may crash accessing the Personalization page.
What’s new on Windows 10 Mobile build 14915
Fixed issue when moving apps to an SD card or internet storage. Fixed issues with certain apps crashing. Fixed issue on Microsoft Edge advanced settings to improve the download experience. Cortana’s text to speech capabilities should now work. Changing the Windows Insider Program settings should work again. Improved language translations inside the operating system. Improved “You need to fix your MSA” toast notification, so it’ll no longer notify you multiple times in quick succession. Improved Continuum for better connectivity with Windows 10 devices. Improved sound settings so that audio files will automatically show as available when trying to change ringtones, alarms, and notifications.
