On a new Windows Blog article, Terry Myerson confirms that the company is making “great development progress” and as a result is planning to release Windows 10 this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages. As we already know the company will also be making the operating system a free upgrade for current Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 users for a year, and now including those PCs running a pirate version of the operating system. On an effort to expand Windows 10 on as much PCs as possible, Microsoft is also collaborating with Lenovo and Tencent to offer the operating system in China. Lenovo will collaborate by offering a Windows 10 upgrade service at 2,500 service centers and many retail stores in China. Tencent, a giant social networking and gaming service company in China, will be offering Windows 10 as a free upgrade pack with a number of apps, including its software QQ. We clearly can see that Microsoft wants to expand Windows 10, particularly in China where the company has a big problem with piracy. If the company success in its plans, not only it will have more users running genuine versions of Windows, but it will also allow the company to expand on its online services, one of the real source of revenue.
